RESIDENTS APPLY FOR PLANNING PERMISSION TO CLOSE GATES EARLIER.
The residents of Tower Bridge Wharf have filed a planning application with Tower Hamlets Council to close the gates to the Thames Path at 7pm on winter evenings, due to anti-social behaviour. This 5-minute film explores the issues and proposes that the area be redesigned and landscaped, in order to design out anti-social behaviour.
Designing out antisocial behaviour
Lighting architect Colin Ball (BDP architects) explains how anti-social behaviour tends to happen in places which have become forgotten leaving a safe space for rowdy youngsters and undesirable types to gather.
We compare this public space with the well-designed stretch of the Thames Path in Butler’s Wharf directly across the river, and also The Odyssey Estate in the Isle of Dogs.
